Star Comprehensive Insurance Policy is an indemnity health plan from Star Health and Allied Insurance for individuals and families. Sum insured options run from ₹5 lakh to ₹1 crore. Along with hospitalisation cover, it bundles extras that many standard plans leave out: outpatient consultations, dental and eye treatment, delivery and newborn cover, and automatic restoration of the sum insured for both related and unrelated illnesses. It can be taken on an individual or family floater basis for 1, 2 or 3 years.
India's most comprehensive standalone health plan — covers OPD, dental, and includes automatic restoration of sum insured.
Star Comprehensive is built for buyers who want one policy to cover a lot: a high sum insured, a cumulative bonus that can reach 100%, restoration that works for related illnesses too, and built-in maternity and newborn cover. The trade-offs are the usual ones for a feature-heavy plan. The pre-existing disease wait is 36 months unless you pay for the buyback cover, delivery cover needs 24 months of continuous cover for both spouses, and the outpatient benefits have small yearly limits and are cashless only. People who enter at 61 or above also pay 10% of every claim. If you are young, planning a family and want maternity and a large cover under one policy, it deserves a close look. If outpatient spending is your main worry, treat the OPD benefit as a small extra, not a core feature.

From a ₹7.5 lakh sum insured, you earn a bonus of 100% of the basic sum insured for each claim-free year. At ₹5 lakh the bonus is 50% for each claim-free year. In both cases it is capped at 100% of the basic sum insured.
