Optima Lite is a plan under HDFC ERGO's my:Optima Secure health insurance product. It comes with two base sum insured options, ₹5 lakh and ₹7.5 lakh, and HDFC ERGO describes it as an affordable cover for people in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. It pays for hospitalisation, day care procedures, home healthcare, AYUSH treatment and pre and post hospitalisation costs, and it restores the base sum insured unlimited times in a policy year. A 10% cumulative bonus is built in, while Plus Benefit, Protect Benefit and an aggregate deductible are optional.
A trimmed-down version of Optima Secure — same unlimited restoration promise, but with room rent capping and fixed sum insured options to keep premiums low. Not available in Delhi NCR, Mumbai/MMR, Surat, Ahmedabad, or Vadodara.
The strongest feature of Optima Lite is its Automatic Restore. After a claim is paid, up to 100% of the base sum insured is added again, this can happen unlimited times in a policy year, and the restored amount can be used for the same illness or a different one, by the same member or another member on the policy. The limits to weigh sit on the other side. Room rent is capped at 1% of the base sum insured per day and ICU at 2%, with proportionate deduction if you take a costlier room. A single claim can never exceed the base sum insured plus any cumulative bonus or Plus Benefit remaining, so the restore does not raise the ceiling on one large claim. Pre and post hospitalisation cover runs for 30 and 60 days, shorter than the 60 and 180 days that apply across the rest of my:Optima Secure. Waiting periods follow the standard IRDAI structure: 30 days for illness, 24 months for listed conditions and 36 months for pre-existing diseases, reduced for continuous prior cover under portability.

You choose either ₹5 lakh or ₹7.5 lakh as the base sum insured. There is no higher option within this plan.
Pays medical expenses for hospitalisation due to illness or injury, up to the sum insured. This includes room rent, ICU, surgeon, anaesthetist and specialist fees, tests directly related to the stay, prescribed medicines, blood, surgical appliances, operation theatre charges and internally implanted prosthetics.
A stay of at least 24 consecutive hours is needed, except for day care treatments.
Room rent is covered up to 1% of the base sum insured per day and ICU/ICCU up to 2% per day. That works out to ₹5,000 for a room and ₹10,000 for ICU on a ₹5 lakh plan, and ₹7,500 and ₹15,000 on a ₹7.5 lakh plan.
If you take a room above the limit, the room charges and the associated medical expenses are reduced in the same proportion.
As soon as a claim partly or fully uses up the sum insured, 100% of the base sum insured is added again. This can happen unlimited times in a policy year, and the restored amount can be used for the same illness or a different one, by the same person or by another member on the policy.
The restored amount is for later claims in the same policy year and expires if unused. A single claim cannot exceed the base sum insured plus any cumulative bonus or Plus Benefit remaining.
On renewal without a break, 10% of the base sum insured is added each year irrespective of claims, up to a maximum of 100%.
If you opt for Plus Benefit, the bonus accrued so far is carried forward but no new cumulative bonus is added after that.
Optional. On renewal without a break, 50% of the base sum insured is added each year irrespective of claims, up to 100%, so your base cover doubles after two renewals.
Opting for Plus Benefit stops new cumulative bonus. It can be used only for claims under base coverage and Protect Benefit. You can opt at inception or renewal and opt out only at renewal.
Optional. Pays for listed non-medical expenses and consumables during an admissible claim, such as gloves, masks, food charges, diapers, belts and braces. HDFC ERGO's product page says the cover lists 68 such items.
Conditions or treatments that the policy clearly says it will not cover.
The conditions and procedures below are covered only after 24 months of continuous coverage with HDFC ERGO. The waiting period does not apply to claims that arise from an accident. If any of them is also a pre-existing disease, the longer waiting period applies. The waiting period starts afresh on any increase in sum insured, and continuous prior cover reduces it under portability norms.

If you choose a room above the limit, the room rent and the associated medical expenses are reduced in the same proportion.

Listed conditions and procedures such as cataract, hernia and joint replacement have a 24-month waiting period, and pre-existing diseases have a 36-month waiting period. If you have been continuously covered with another insurer, the waiting periods are reduced to the extent of your prior cover under IRDAI portability norms.
